My Jello Angry Self

Dear Jim K.,

I am writing this letter to try and express the gratitude for your time and effort you put into me here. You were my sponsor for my first eighteen months at the Family Foundation School and put up with my jello angry self. That is amazing. You had a type of compassion and understanding about me that was very unique. You started me up on the twelve steps and I begun to pray because you told me to and I trusted you. Through all of my act outs and runaways you stayed at my side and didn’t judge me for it. You didn’t judge me on my fifth step either you actually helped me out even more. You showed me fun in sobriety and that I could do anything that I want to if I am sober. The last eighteen months of my stay we continued to talk and I still was able to feel open sharing with you my problems and struggles. You were still there for me even though I wasn’t your sponsee. I remember you told me your last day in family eight that since you weren’t going to be in the family anymore doesn’t mean I can’t come to you for help. I am grateful for the presence you are in my life. You have been a role model for me and someone I could look up to. I love you and thank you for your help.

B. D.
