I’m really not sure where to begin because there have been so many powerful experiences with the students through the years.
I just received a call from one of our graduates who has never even met Pat (my husband) but who was so touched at his funeral that he wants to remember it in his graduation speech. I guess that would be Pat’s witness.
I can witness to the fact that my life & program continue to be enhanced by the kids. Whether at table topics, in group or one on one, I am always amazed at the insight & wisdom these kids have. If I were to pick one experience that stands out in my memory, it would be one at a Girl’s Retreat with Father Stephen. One of the girl’s came out of the church after Mass & asked to talk to me. We sat on the church steps & ended up having a very intimate exchange. She did a 3rd Step that left a lasting impression in my life.
Recently, an alumna who came to visit told me she still has a statue of the Blessed Mother that I gave her at her Confirmation. It sits on her dresser. Small things matter.
In the end, even the challenges that we face day after day here at the Family Foundation School are opportunities for growth – mine & theirs.
