Dear Mike,
In writing my graduation speech, I came to the part where I thanked people. I wanted to thank you in it, but due to restrictions limiting the number of people I could thank, I wasn’t able to. I thought that I could write you a letter instead. Thank you for kicking my butt so much. For so long I was angry and resentful at you for exposing me. But it was simply because you could see right through me. You saw my lies, my manipulations, and my insecurities. You wouldn’t put up with it. When I started to change and see these things in myself, I started to value you and consider you one of the people that helped me the most. You are truly a God sent for me and my parents. I respect you tremendously. Thank you for being in my life and for contributing to my sobriety. I will never forget you (or your sense of humor). I know that you are going to touch a lot of people’s lives, just as you have done to mine and others at school.
Sincerely,
J. F.
